Business Marketing: Creating Your Own Economy

Here is a business marketing secret that really isn’t a secret at all – The key to navigating through a tough economy is to step-up and create your OWN economy.

Business Marketing| Create Your Own Economy

Business leaders need to start leading again.

We are all in the same boat – The economy has impacted every business and every person in the USA in some fashion. So, what do we do? Do we just sit around and wait for things to get better? Do we wait to see which politician is going to be elected in hopes that THEY will change the current economic state? Well, if you are waiting around and aren’t taking matters in to your own hands, you are destined to struggle.

As business leaders, it is our responsibility to be problem solvers, to be innovative and to continue to grow our companies. However, it has become apparent that a lot of business leaders aren’t doing much leading – They are waiting to be led.

True leaders see the current economic condition as a way to turn up the heat, capture market share and position themselves for long-term success. They are embracing the challenge and are turning it in to an opportunity… are you?

Here are 5 actions you can take to start creating your own economy;

[dropcap2] 1 [/dropcap2] Personal commitment to lead the charge: As the leader, you need to bring it! Bring a renewed attitude, energy and motivation to succeed. Your team needs a leader that truly believes in the success of their company, people, products and services.
[dropcap2] 2 [/dropcap2] Review your current business model: Out with the old and in with the new. A lot of businesses have become slow, inefficient and bloated. The old business models are too slow as they attempt to adapt and embrace the new digital world. You need to get a better grasp of how your customers are searching for and purchasing their products – then you need to change to meet those needs. NOW!
[dropcap2] 3 [/dropcap2] Refine your message: It’s time to give them what they want… your customers that is.  Spend some time identifying the real needs, wants and desires of your target audience and shape your message accordingly.

Shape your message to be;

  • Arresting – Stop them and captivate them.
  • Educational – Tell them why they should love your product or service.
  • Action Oriented – Tell them what they need to do next – Get them to engage.

Don’t just spew out old reused industry jargon because it’s what you have always done or it’s what your competition is saying. That is the problem… you need to stand out and be different. If your message isn’t taking you out of your current comfort zone than it’s not going to be an effective message.
[dropcap2] 4 [/dropcap2] Embrace new technology: Leaders need to learn to love marketing. It is YOUR responsibility to grow the company… The buck stops with you! If you are going to be committed to leading the charge in growing your company, you need to be the Marketing Master. YOU MUST understand how the new technology works and how to make it applicable for marketing your company and increase efficiencies. I am always amazed at how business leaders don’t consider themselves marketers – Business IS Marketing! It’s time for you to get a crash course on social marketing and cloud computing and put this technology to good use.
[dropcap2] 5 [/dropcap2] Turn up the heat: It’s time to be OBSESSED! Become obsessed with getting your message out relentlessly. You want to saturate the minds of your target audience… enough is never enough. Be obsessed with engaging your customers on the social networks.  Get them talking about you, your products & services. Be obsessed with gaining new customers and making them love your company.

I’m going to use an old cliche’ but I really do believe it is worth saying – Don’t be part of the problem, be part of the solution – Create Your Own Economy!
