Out Selling Your Competition

Truth be told, most sales people don’t like to do their homework. It’s not that hard to outsell your competition if you spend the right amount of time doing your daily research to stay ahead of them. Teach your sales team how to leverage RSS feeds and readers.

Using RSS readers will help your sales team stay abreast of the marketplace, study the competition and track prospects and customers information in a more efficient way. By understanding what your customers, and your competitors are doing, you can always stay one step ahead of the game and present your customers and prospects with better services, products and overall customer service.

An easy way to get started with RSS feeds is to go to Google Reader and sign up for a free account. Take the quick tour to get accustom to the program and terminology. After you are all signed up and ready to go, spend some time searching different blogs, associations and competitors websites to grab their RSS feeds and follow them. Google Reader will funnel all of the feeds that you have selected to follow into a concise data source that you can reference on a day-to-day basis to see what’s happening in the marketplace.

It’s a free tool that will help you gain insight and is easy to use. Once you have it all set up, you only need to spend about 15 to 20 min. per day doing YOUR homework. You’ll be amazed at the astounding results and valuable information you gather.
